STUART, Fla., February 7, 2022 – Julie Kleffel is serving as Executive Leadership Cabinet Member of the 2022 Orlando Heart Ball supporting the American Heart Association. She is rallying her community in the fight against heart disease and stroke – the No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death in the U.S.
In a letter on her fundraising page Julie writes about her personal connection to the cause…
Dear Friend,
My engagement with this amazing organization is a direct result of my personal story. My late husband Erik was born with a heart condition known as a bicuspid, aortic valve. This cardiac condition later had a direct impact on his death at the young age of 30.
Additionally, my daughter Faith was diagnosed prenatally with a cardiac condition known as a vertical septum defect. My daughter also has genetic condition known as Down Syndrome. Cardiac issues are very common with individuals that have Down Syndrome and often contribute to lifelong health complications that can negatively impact life expectancy.
Needless to say this organization is near and dear to my heart!
Funds raised through our Open Your Heart campaign help ensure the health of current and future generations. These funds are the very foundation of our ability to simultaneously continue our work at the forefront of scientific discovery and benefit community health.
Thank you for joining me and for making a lasting impact on the health of our community!
With Heart,
Julie
